An amazing vintage Cherry wood glass holder and a glassware set of four cocktail glasses from the mid century. They were made by the Woodcroftery Company out of Wayland, New York. The original tag from the company is still tied onto the holder at the top. It says Genuine Woodcroftery Heirloom Cherrywood from Wayland, New York, Craftsmen Since 1935. The back of the tag has the sticker from a gift shop in PA. Inside the tag says Authentic Early American at the top and describes the wood and its characteristics. The other side has care instructions. At the bottom is the Company name and address.
The set features a wooden glasses carrier with a tall center handle. The handle section has a hole in it to make it easy to pick up. There is a carved round disc design on the handle section as well.
The four glasses are clear glass with a different color and name of an old fashioned pub or tavern on each one.
The taverns are named and feature:
- TEMPERANCE - has an eagle and the date 1808 and has an orange logo
- SILENT WOMAN - a woman who she has no head (ha ha, very funny) the date 1761 and says Entertainment and has a green logo
- THE COCKED HAT TAVERN with the date of 1785 and the name Nesbitt Deance. The logo has a blue background.
- THE BLACK HORSE TAVERN by JR and the date 1783 and a black horse logo has a tan background
The wooden holder is 8 3/4" tall. It about 7" across on each side at the widest part.
The glasses measure 3" tall with a 2 3/4" wide opening at the top. The glasses hold 8 ounces comfortably.
There are no splits in the wood. No cracks or chips in the glasses. The set is in good vintage condition - the original tag is still intact as this set appears to never have been used.
NOTE: The Woodcroftery, is a business located in Wayland, New York. It operated until about 1976. Wayland is small town south of Rochester, NY.
