A vintage black (or a very, very dark brown) lacquer jewelry box that is adorned with beautiful and colorful mother of pearl designs on the top and on the front pieces. The inlaid pieces feature ducks, cranes, mountains, the sun, clouds and flowers - naturally pretty! Inside the box, there is a mirror on the lid and two compartments covered in red velvet. The top compartment has two sections. The section on the left is a plain rectangle and on the right there is a spot for rings as well as a plain smaller rectangle section. The bottom, lined in red velvet, is plain with no dividers, and is quite deep.
There are brass hinges, and closure piece - it does not lock. It does not have the pin or bolt that would pass through the closure holes. The back has two decorative hinges. There is a nice little cut out section on the front bottom.
This lovely jewelry box is circa 1980s.
Measurements:
height - 4 1/3"
width - 5"
Length - 7"
This great home decor and storage box is in nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Some patina on the brass hinges and front closure piece. Still looks wonderful!
