Antique 4 Pc German Canister Set Meihl Tee Kaffee Allerlei - Blue Onion Vintage Ceramic Kitchen Storage Country Farmhouse Shabby Chic
An old 4 piece German kitchen storage set that features four ceramic storage canisters in different sizes. These remaining four lidded jars were most likely part of a larger set. (One of the four of this set has a crack that has been glued - see NOTE below.)
The antique kitchen set is white with blue designs. The design or pattern used in these pieces is referred to as Blue Onion. Blue Onion is a tableware pattern originally manufactured by German Meissen porcelain since the 18th century. Since the later part of the 19th Century, Blue Onion was copied by other ceramic / porcelain companies.
The 4 canisters or lidded jars have a rounded rectangular shape as do the lids and the bases. The tops have square shaped knobs on the lids. There is a flower and leaf/vine on each side of the rectangular lids.
The four vintage ceramic jars with lids are in two different sizes as noted below:
3 larger - With the lid on the three larger containers are all approximately 6" high. The canister with no lid is about 4 1/2” high and is 4" long x 3" wide.
1 smaller - With the lid on, it is 4" high. Just the canister is 3 1/4" high. IT is 2 3/8 x 2". The lid is 1/3" high. The lid measures 2 1/2" long x 1 1/2" wide.
The German words on the kitchen storage jars are:
- Mehl - means flour
- Kaffee - means coffee
- Tee - means tea
- Allerlei - means various
Three of the four of the jars and lids are in nice antique condition with wear commensurate with vintage age. One of the larger jars, the Kaffee canister, has a crack that has been repaired. See photos for detail. Item's price reflects this condition.
**** NOTE: The Kaffee Canister has a crack all around the bottom section that has been glued - see last two photos for closeups of the glued crack. Item’s price reflects condition.
Even with the crack in the one lidded jar, this cute antique 4 piece set is a perfect display set for an adorable retro kitchen!
