Vintage Pitcher Dark Green Drip Glaze by Blue Mountain Pottery - Mid century MCM Home Decor - Canada Art Pottery Ca 1960

Sorry, this item has sold.

Large and comely Blue Mountain pottery pitcher in a dark green glaze with deep turquoise on the top section that drips downward. The handle is a long loop that goes from the top edge to 1" above the bottom of this mid century piece. The body is a round bulbous shape and shows great color.

NOTE:
The Blue Mountain Pottery Company was a Canadian company located in Collingwood, Ontario. It was founded in 1953 by Dennis Tupy and Jozo Weiderand closed in the early 2000s. The company began by producing items in 1953-1954 including various types of pottery, from animal figurines like this dog to jugs, pots and vases. Blue Mountain Pottery items are collected worldwide, and there is even a Blue Mountain Pottery Collector's Club. What makes Blue Mountain Pottery a bit unique is their trademarked glazing process where two different liquid glazes, one light and one dark in color, were used. As they were fired, the two glazes would run together and make streaks that were different on each piece - while the molds may be the same, the colors on each item are all unique.

Measures about 6 1/2" high and is about 6" in diameter at the widest part.

In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Little sign of wear - really looks great, especially for a piece that is 50+ years old, a mid century item.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do we answer questions about the value or “worth” of items?

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.

This small pitcher is really beautiful, especially the interesting glaze. And, as noted in the description, it is in perfect condition. It was packed with care and arrived promptly and unscathed. I highly recommend this seller.
