Jeanette Green & Blue Glass Wedding Cake Box Candy Jar - Mid century Flashed Glass Pedestal Dish w/ Square Panes - Shabby Chic - Worn Flash

Sorry, this item has sold.

Jeanette Square blue and green Glass Clear Candy Dish, Candy Jar or Wedding Cake Box from the 1960-70s. This shabby chic home decor piece has a unique square shape on the top section as well as on the base. A distinct finial is on the top and center pedestal section complete this jar's design. The jar is a light green and blue and is flashed glass with lots of chipping on the colored flash coating. The flash process was used in the art glass trade as a cheaper method of making colored glass. The process involves putting a thin coating of color on a base of clear glass. When finished, a new flashed glass piece was practically indistinguishable from solid color glass. The blue and green colors used in flash were commonly used - like this handsome little cake box lidded jar.

This type of glass box was traditionally meant for the bride and groom to be able to take a piece of wedding cake home. It could be used for the same for any wedding today and would also make a great candy dish or home decor accent piece.

Measures 6" high with the lid on. It is about 4 1/2" high without the lid on. Base has 2 1/3" sides. The sides of the square box section are 4" in length.

In fair vintage condition with no chips or cracks - lots of wear and peeling to the green and blue flash all over. See photo closeups for detail. Item’s price reflects condition.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do we answer questions about the value or “worth” of items?

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.
