Adorable antique porcelain bisque "fishergirl" who is has been out fishing and has quite a catch.
This cute little fishergirl has a beautiful face and is dressed in a very pale yellow colored dress with a pink belt and pink and blue flowers on the edge. She wears a matching hat that has blue trim that depicts an early 1900s style. The forget me nots in the hen are simply wonderful.
She has a basket full if dark green fish over her shoulder that has a blue rope. She also holds a fish in one of her hands and one has fallen out of the basket onto the ground near her feet.
The bisque porcelain is quite fine and has a very smooth matte finish. This vintage/antique bisque figurine is hand painted and has an expressive little face - the detail around the eyes is especially fine and has a pink cast to the skin in various places. She is barefoot and stands against a tree stump. Hair is a light brownish blond color and the eyes are a gray blue.
The round base is fantastic with a gold and black colored design on an off-white background. In the middle of geometric top and bottom borders is a painted leafy design all around the base.
Approx. measurements - 13 1/2" in height. The base has a 5” diameter.
This figurine is most likely German and circa early 1900s.
In nice vintage/antique condition with no chips or cracks. Light wear in various places as one would expect an item that is approx. 100 years old. She is simply adorable.
While this is not signed, based on the style, design and painting, I believe this statue was made in Germany. Many of the bisque figures were made in Germany around the turn of the century.
