Vintage Thames China Victorian 3D Wall Plaques Water Bearers - 2 Pc Man Woman Wall Decor Ornate Japan Circa 1940s - Collectible w/ Stickers
Thames 3 dimensional wall plaques of a man and woman each with two water buckets from about the 1940s.
This Thames set of matching man and woman at the well was made in Japan. It has an off white background and the colors of green, turquoise, brown, tan, pink, mauve and gold trim on each. The couple of water bearers face each other. Each has two water buckets, on either side of their bodies.
Both round wall plaques still have the original stickers on the bottom. Paint is in great shape. There both have wires that go through two holes on the back for hanging.
Marked on the bottoms MADE IN JAPAN, THAMES, HAND PAINTED
Measure approx. 5 7/8" in diameter. About 1 1/2" deep.
Upon very close inspection, it looks like there is a repair to the man's hand on the one plaque and on the flower on the lady's plaque. The repair(s) are well done and I didn't notice them until I got home - see closeup of last photo to compare the two flowers and the hands. The price reflects this.
No chips or cracks. Overall in nice vintage condition.
