VIntage Mid century Reproduction Max Hediger Zurich Swiss Pewter Flagon Jug Tankard - Octagonal Prisemkanne Wine Cooler / Decanter / Charger

$30.00

Vintage Max Hediger of Zurich, Switzerland pewter decanter that is a mid century reproduction of a late 18th Century traditional Swiss pewter flagon or decanter / wine cooler. Often the center medallion would be engraved with a person's initials - this medallion is blank. The sides of this flagon are plain but the antique pewter flagons such as this were often etched.

The original sticker on the bottom says, "Zinngießerei Max Hediger" which II believe means the Max hediger Pewter Foundry and "Limmatquai 100, 8025 Zurich 1", which I believe is the address of the foundry.

The bottom of the pewter flagon has a hallmark with a hibiscus flower and the symbols 95% meaning that it is 95% pewter, typical of European pewter.

Measures aprox. 9 1/2" to the top of the round loop on the screw on lid. Base is 4" across at widest point. 6 1/4" across from side to end of spout.

In nice vintage condition with light wear marks, 2 small dings on back side seam that can be seen on photo #2 when zoomed in, and light patina - no cracks or repairs.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do we answer questions about the value or “worth” of items?

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.
