Vintage Poodle Dog Bookends - Pair Black w/ Gold Trim Ceramic 2 Dogs w/ Books & Pencil Holders - Mid Century Home and Library Decor Retro

Sorry, this item has sold.

Great pair of vintage mid century poodle bookends that have a built in pencil or pen holder in the back of each piece. They are black ceramic and have gold trim painted on them. In the 1950s poodles were all the rage and these bookends are kitschy and very mid century.

Each poodle is black with some gold spatter on the head, nose and haunches. The books they are resting their front paws on have gold pages and some markings on the spine in gold. The eyes are black and white. The cylindrical pen/pencil holder is next to the poodle's tail on each bookend.

Says JAPAN on the sides. Bottoms have felt paper on them - see photos.

Both black poodle bookends are in nice vintage condition with no cracks. Some light chipping here and there commensurate with vintage age. The paint is in nice condition as well, especially as these are from the mid century.

Measure approx. 6" high, 3" wide and 2" deep.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do we answer questions about the value or “worth” of items?

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.
