Vintage 1980s Nina Ricci Sunglasses with brown Tortoise shell plastic frames and a gold round accent at each hinge in their original case. These boho retro sunglasses appear never to have been worn as the original sticker is on one of the front lenses - it says CR39 and has a 3, a sun, a mountain and a sailboat image on it. (CR-39 is a plastic polymer commonly used in the manufacture of eyeglass lenses. The abbreviation stands for "Columbia Resin #39", which was the 39th formula of a thermosetting plastic developed by the Columbia Resins project in 1940. It is claimed that CR-39 material that is almost entirely opaque in the ultraviolet range and transparent in the visible spectrum.)
They still have a price tag from someone else dangling from one arm. These sunglasses come in a black case that has SERENGETI printed on the outside front. The case, which appears to be faux leather, closes with a velcro closure.
This pair of sunglasses is from the late 1980s.
Markings:
Nina Ricci Paris on one arm
NR 3049 and COL 6582 on the other arm
Some very light wear from storage - original sticker for sun protection level is still on the front lens so these appear to never have been used.
