Wonderful vintage genuine pearl necklace featuring a single strand of off-white or ivory colored 6 to 6 1/2 mm sized pearls. The necklace is 18" long and is Princess Length. This retro pearl necklace is circa mid-century in age.
The retro pearl strand features all individually hand knotted pearls on silk thread. This strand is from my mother's collection - she always thought pearls were the quintessential accessory.
The pearl clasp closure is lovely and blends into the pearls on this necklace as it is a pearl itself. The closure pearl has an inner chamber. One one end of the clasp there is a small lever that fits inside. It opens from inside the closure pearl when pressure is applied. To close the clasp, the end piece is placed inside the opening in the pearl clasp bead.
In all there are 70 pearls on this single strand retro necklace including the closure pearl. (as noted above, the closure on this retro necklace is a pearl with a tab that opens when pressed upon.)
This sterling and pearl clasp opens and closes securely.
