Vintage 1940s Abingdon USA art pottery vase with two handles in an off white/ivory color with a unique set of handles on two sides. The handles have a rope type of look. The bottom round bulbous portion of this retro vase is a smooth pottery with no design while the top section has diamond shapes in it formed by diagonal lines coming from the left and the right. The Finish is a shiny glaze.

This Abingdon vase also features an Art Deco shape. The bottom reads ABINGDON and USA printed in blue and inside a blue rectangle.

According to Kovels, Abingdon Pottery was established in 1908 by Raymond E. Bidwell as the Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing Company. It started making art pottery in 1934 and stopped production of art pottery in 1950. Abingdon Pottery was known for its plumbing fixtures and its dense, white vitreous china, resistant to hairline cracks and chips.

Measures approx. 9" tall, 6 1/2" wide at widest point. The top opening has a 5 1/2" diameter.

Weighs 2 lbs. before packaging for shipment.

In nice vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There is wear on bottom as would be expected an item from the 1940s.
