Two beautiful and ornate gold Syroco wall hangings that matching but different. These are very mid century when this gold type of wall decor was all the rage.

The two gold rectangular shaped wall art pices are matching but one is of a hanging cluster of grapes with the branch and the leaves above the grapes. The other is a cluster of berries with the branch and leaves above. The say SYROCO MADE IN USA at the very bottom and each has the original foil label from Syroco on the back as well.

The two vintage wall hangings from the 1960s have hooks on the back of them for hanging. These are mid century wall decor items are rather large and as such, quite striking on the wall.

They measure 11 1/2" high and are 8 1/2" across at widest part. The rectangular wall art pieces are about 1/2" deep.

The beauty of Syroco is that it is not heavy - each of these weighs 13 ounces. While items made of metal or wood may be hard to hang, Syroco is not.

In great vintage condition with original stickers in back. Light wear and patina as would be expected items from the mid century.

The Syracuse Ornamental Company, known as Syroco, was an American manufacturing company based in Syracuse, New York. They were best known for their molded wood-pulp products that resembled hand-carving.

Founded in Syracuse, New York in 1890 by immigrant Adolph Holstein, the Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) specialized in decorative wood carving, especially for the local residential market. Products included fireplace mantelpieces and other types of interior decoration popular in late Victorian homes. To meet increasing market demand and sales opportunities Holstein developed a material looked and felt like wood but that which could be shaped, allowing multiple pieces to be produced through a molding process. The new product, which combined wood pulp brought from the Adirondacks with flour as a binder and other materials to give it strength, was extruded and then cut to fit compression molds, which had were made from original carvings in real wood.
