Vintage Washington Before Boston Bronze Commemorative Medal by Artist

Sorry, this item has sold.

A vintage collectible bronze medal of Washington before Boston that commentates Washington’s deluge and capture of the British Forces stationed in Boston during the Revolutionary War. The siege began on April 19 after Lexington and Concord. Washington's militia from surrounding Massachusetts communities blocked land access to Boston. The Continental Congress formed the Continental Army from the militia, with George Washington as its Commander in Chief. In June 1775, the Americans laid siege to the British-occupied city of Boston and conducted raids, minor skirmishes, and attacked with some sniper fire. The seige lasted until March 1776.

This copy is a commemorative token is a circa 1960s reproduction of the medal that was originally cast in gold.

The other side has a scene of Washington and three other men on horseback overlooking the city of Boston and the text - COMITIA AMERICANA GEORGIO WASHINGTON SVPREMO DVCI EXERCITVVM ADSERTORI LIBERTATIS.
