Antique Shabby Chic Painted Metal Lock Boxes - Cash Money Storage- Chippy Black, Red & Gold Painted w/ Handles - Vintage Retro Home Decor

A pair of great rectangular antique or vintage painted metal lock boxes with a lid and handles on one side. The exteriors are a black color with rust red and mustard colored striping on the lids. The interior of both rectangular boxes are black. There is a keyhole in the front of each box and in fact, a key hangs out of one of the keyholes, however, it does not seem to work. Best guess is that these storage or cash boxes are circa early 1900s.

While the boxes are very similar, one is slightly larger than the other and the design for the coloring is different. The larger box has a gold outline all around the top edge as well as a thin gold line about 1/2" inside that. Then there is a red and thick gold rectangular design in the center. It has a small oval handle on one side. There are two thin gold stripes on the top and bottom along the bottom front of this box.

The smaller box has a red and thick gold line in the center and has gold trim on the very bottom lip of the cover and the top lip of the box portion. IT has a large oval handle on one side. There are three lines of decorative thin gold stripping on the top and bottom front of this box.

Where this vintage or antique boxes are chipped, this retro or antique pair of handsome lock boxes would certainly make a great addition to any decor.

Smaller box - 10" long x 5" wide x 4" high

In chipped worn shabby chic condition with scratching all over - see photos for detail. The hinged lids open and close and the brass handle is sturdy.
