Vintage Hand painted Floral Milk Glass Wedding Cake Box Jar w/ Lid - White Candy Pedestal Dish Square Painted Gold Trim
A vintage white milk glass Glass Candy Dish, Candy Jar or Wedding Cake Box from the mid century with hand painted flowers and gold accent trim. This piece has a unique square shape on the top section as well as on the base. A distinct finial is on the top and center pedestal section complete this jar's design. The painted flowers are a dark pink and a purpleish blue with green leaves. They are on the lid, the corners and on the base. The gold accent trim is on the top knob.
Originally, this type of glass box was meant for the bride and groom to be able to take a piece of wedding cake home. It could be used for the same for any wedding today, and would also make a great candy dish or home decor accent piece.
Measures about 7 1/4" high with the lid on. It is about 4 1/2" high without the lid on. The top opening is 5 1/4" across.
This may be a Rainbow Glass Company piece but it is unmarked.
For its size, this is a heavy piece - weighs over 2 3/4 pounds before packaging for shipment.
In good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There is slight wear on the gold trim in a few places that is commensurate with an item that is from the mid century.
