Vintage Sheffield EPC Silver Plate Compote Candy Dish Pedestal Base - Retro Openwork Lattice Grape Motif - Home Decor 3961 Ornate Cut Out

Sorry, this item has sold.

Sweet vintage silver plate compote or bon bon dish with a latticework trim around the top edge that is hallmarked for the Sheffield Silver Co. The top has wonderful cut out latticework using a pattern of grape leaves and grape clusters. There are small rectangular lines (look like dots) all around the inner rim, with the other rim being a plain band. The pedestal base has the same pattern of a raised design about 1/2" into the rim with the outer rim being plain. The piece is marked EPC which means it is silver over electroplated copper.

Marked with the stamp for the Sheffield Silver Co. (a head, a crown and a cursive S) and the letters/numbers EPC and 3961 on the bottom.

NOTE:
The SHEFFIELD SILVER CO was located in Brooklyn, NY. The company was incorporated in 1908, and its trademark registered in 1919. The company later became a part of Reed and Barton (circa 1970).

Measures about 6" high. Top diameter is 6 7/8" across. Base diameter is 3 1/2".

In nice vintage condition with some patina and light signs of wear - still looks wonderful. Nice shine on the base and lattice edges.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do we answer questions about the value or “worth” of items?

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.
