Sorry, this item has sold.

A great piece of the past to adorn your door with a truly distinctive vintage look. This vintage brass door knocker, predecessor of the doorbell, is solid brass with a pineapple at the top and a rectangular placard in the center. It tapers to a rounded point at the bottom. There are two holes for hanging - one in the center at the base of the pineapple and one just above the end section.

In the 1970s, there was a revival of Colonial style in the US and this doorknocker is from that time period.
------
Why a pineapple on this retro door knocker?
In Colonial times, the pineapple was a sign of welcome and hospitality and was used in a number of home decor items as well as in buildings and architecture. This brass piece would serve as the first sign of welcome for visitors to your home.
-----

Minimal signs of wear, some light scratching and some patina on the front side. Back side has a rough finish. If so desired it could be polished but in nice vintage shape overall.

Measures approx. 10 1/4" long and about 3 1/3" at its widest point - this is taller than most doorknockers.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do we answer questions about the value or “worth” of items?

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.
