Vintage Art Glass Vase Sculpture Cased Teardrop - Mod Mid century Modern Decor - Possible Murano Sommerso Art Glass
Beautiful Teardrop mod art glass vase that features shades of turquoise, blue, yellow and clear glass vase. This cased glass vase has a flat bottom for standing. It is in the teardrop shape and has an elongated top opening with one side reaching upwards and the other side being slightly turned down. The colorful glass in encased in the clear glass. The outer edges on each side have a decorative bit of swirl or ribbon design inside the cased clear glass. This retro hand blown glass piece has tiny bubbles here and there typical of blown glass.
It is unmarked but looks like a Murano Sommerso art glass piece.
NOTE: Sommerso is a glass making technique that was invented by the Murano Glass artists in the 1930’s. Sommerso technique is based upon submerging glass of one color in layers of glass of another color.
Measures 10 1/3" tall x 5" wide. It is about 2" thick.
This vase weighs a bit shy of 4 lbs. before packaging for shipment. Rather heavy for its size.
In nice vintage condition with no cracks or chips. Light wear commensurate with vintage age.
Still a colorful and beautiful home decor piece!
