Set 4 Mad Men Silver Rim Drinking Glasses - Vintage Set of Two Rocks Glasses - Dorothy Thorpe Style - Midcentury Modern

Sorry, this item has sold.

Set of four vintage silver rimmed large sized cocktail or rocks drinking glasses from the 1960s.

They hold approximately 10 oz. to the brim and measure 3 1/2" high and the opening at the top is 3 1/2" in diameter. The silver rim is approx. 1/2'' wide.

The glasses have no chips, cracks, or other structural damage. While the rims look great for this age of vintage silver rimmed glasses, upon close inspection there is light wear to the silver rims with the worst of the wear in the two shown in the photo closeup. Still, a great set of mid century glasses. Price reflects condition.

Unmarked and similar in style to the barware seen on Mad Men, though I don't believe these are the authentic Dorothy Thorpe.

Why mention of Mad Men?
The main character of AMC’s “Mad Men” drinks from sterling-silver banded glassware that he keeps inside his Manhattan Avenue office.

Who was Dorothy Thorpe?
Dorothy Carpenter Thorpe (1904-1989), was a Los Angeles-based artist. Thorpe designed sterling-edged entertaining ware such as cocktail glasses, pitchers and cheese domes.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do we answer questions about the value or “worth” of items?

No, we are not comfortable providing pricing or answering questions about the value or worth of vintage or antique items. We believe they are worth what someone will pay for them. Therefore, there is no way to assign something a set monetary value - in our opinion. We suggest doing an online search to find similar items and take it from there.
